I get a lot of email solicitations dealing with my job and so many of them contain the same basic premise. “Hey, I saw your work, liked it, and want to offer you my services to help you.” That’s fine, I get, we all need to do what we can to advertise our services or product.
What bothers me is how many of these emails are based in lies. Today I received one that went on and on about how I was clearly passionate about the post I had made and how I had put so much work into the post. Honestly I just clicked a few buttons to advertise a small event, no big deal. There was no artful work poured into it and the guy automated machine sending it knows that.
It wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t get multiple copies of those same emails about each event posting I’ve made. The point is, these emails are designed to kiss my ass and stroke my ego, but in reality they are canned bullshit crafted to reel me in. They are based in lies and I’m supposed to put my trust in that company…a company that tried to initiate our relationship with a lie. Ugh.
Honest emails will get you my business way faster, kids.
