So the original purpose of this site when I bought the domain name was to build a new website and hopefully showcase some of the art I love as well as what I create. Of course in a world full of copyright violations, I want to tread lightly on showing you the things I love. I hate copyright violations and what the web has done to harm artists of all stripes.
I should know.
I watched Napster and the rise of the iPod fundamentally change the recording industry. I blame the industry itself for refusing to see the threat and thinking it could simply sue its way back to equilibrium, but once the genie was out of the bottle, it was too late. Music changed forever.
Don’t get me wrong, some of it was change for the better – I love the availability of music these days. But it did damage too.
Sorry, I got a bit off topic there…where were we. Oh yeah…art.
The whole rocknrollaintdeaf thing started on Instagram where I resurrected an old art project of posting pictures and naming them after themes pulled from the music collection in my brain. Song titles, lyrics, band names, albums…whether it was what I was listening to when I created the photo or something it evoked in me when I saw it, it was always something I enjoyed, but due to some really fucked up circumstances I deleted that profile and lost it all. Awhile back, feeling kind of uncreative in life, I started a new account and rocknrollaintdeaf was born. If you’re from Instagram, say hello, or if you’re from here, hop over there and say hello. Either way, just say hello.
Hopefully, you’ll stick around for awhile…
